Daughters of Mumbi groups and programs promote family-level food security (specifically focusing on indigenous and traditional foods), environmental sustainability and protection (including emphasis on indigenous plants for medicinal and nutritional purposes), gender rights, community empowerment, and HIV/AIDS awareness focused on fighting stigma and facilitating social support for members who are infected and/or affected by HIV/AIDS. We use the discussion of access to healthy and nutritious food as a rallying point from which we launch into discussions about the other issues.
